Having decided to wait for warmer weather before starting my 2024 racing season, I had a late change of heart and entered the VTTA 30mile event on the Q30/3 which is a new slightly revised course. As with the majority of time trialling in Kent, the event is centred on the A2070, with the hq, start and finish in Hamstreet. Rebecca didn’t want to be left out and she joined me on what turned out to be a cold, windy but bright day, with the wind increasing significantly towards the end. The last leg from Brookland to Hamstreet was particularly tough but there were plenty of familiar faces cheering us on at all the roundabouts, including Rye’s Mark Amon who marshalled at Brookland. We’re very grateful to all those involved in running the event.
I finished in 1:08:13 (2nd on vet standard) and Rebecca in 1:25:10which gave us the overall win for club teams of two riders
Nick Wilson.
