Happy new year!

The traditional New Year’s Day 10 was able to return this year after Covid caused the 2021 edition to be cancelled. It was the third time the event has used the Q10/1 Hamstreet bypass course following the move from Bethersden. After a run of miserable weather over Christmas, we were treated to a spectacular sunrise on the marsh and, although a little breezy, it was a beautiful day and perfect conditions. Rather sad to see what used to be a well attended event only receive 32 entries, further reduced on the day by non-starters to just 21 riders.

Rye Wheelers produced a good showing with five starters, nearly a quarter of the field. Plenty of prizes amongst our squad, including the team prize comprising Steve Gooch, Dave Greenwood and Rebecca Wilson.
