The first of our Monthly Thurday Evening Sessions at the ARRCC Centre in Rye was a great success, and with the Art Room booked on the last Thursday of every month through to January The Committee hope to keep the interest going.
This first session was provided by Dave Greenwood assisted by Paul Simpson and concentrated on basic problems that might be encountered whilst on a ride and how to deal with them. Having started the session off with how to deal with a puncture and press ganging Sue Morley into a hands on demonstration Paul handed over to Dave for the hard stuff.
Dave concentrated on adjustment of gears, brakes and cables with a brake block change demo thrown in. With barracking kept to a minimum Dave skillfully completed his demonstration and it is hoped that a few riders will have more confidence in dealing with things on the road in the future. And anyone riding with Sue Morely knows where to look if they suffer a puncture “Safe Hands Sue”.
Once Dave and Paul have recovered from the stage fright it is planned to hold a more in depth session on such things as replacing Cassettes, Bottom Brackets, Head Sets, and basic Bike-Fit.
Teas and Coffes skillfully provided by our racing Sec, Steve Gooch.
