Up for Lunch 2016. 04-09-2016

Well here we go again this little provincial non sponsored, non “Racing Team” organising another great event purely down to the hard work of it’s members, both in terms of back of house support and riders.

72 riders took part in rides to suit all from a 20K Chaperoned family ride through to an ultra testing 150K ride with over 5,000 foot of climb. Of the 72 riders a good dozen were youngsters well under 16 and a special mention for William Murtagh who completed the 150K route with our premiere riders. Food stations were provided on all the routes and the most welcome was at the top of Willingford Lane on the 100 and 150K routes manned by myself, I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many people so pleased to see me.
Whilst the rides are meant to be good fun and hard work in equal measure the whole raison detre is supporting the Clubs chosen Charity “The ARRCC Centre Rye” who manned their cafe and provided welcome hospitality before and after the rides. With the Club donating all the entry fees which will amount to around £500 and with ARRCC’s own takings of over £100 from the Cafe I think that deserves a pat on the back for all Wheelers.
Here’s to next year,
Paul Simpson.
