The final TT of the season turned out to be a cracking contest between rival clubs Rye & Ashford Wheelers. The most consistent TT racer of the year has been Mark Amon who did not disappoint with a time of 25’14” for the Q10 course. Rebecca Wilson made a late decision to ride her TT bike boosting the competitors for Rye producing a time of 27’08”. The last competitor to register was former pro Simon Cope who came out of retirement to ride his first time trial in 20 years. Having only done conversational training with the club’s Sunday and social rides, he described it as awful “I was on the rivet the whole time” he even confessed to easing up on the hilly stretch out of Appledore. However talent will always prevail and he decimated the field on his Wiggins Pinarello road bike in a time of 24 minutes flat. Consequently your correspondent speculates that unofficially Rye wins the inter-club championship. Final results to be confirmed by the Racing secretary.
