August 28, 2022

Return of the Rye Wheelers Hilly Challenge, a Charity Hill Climbing Challenge in aid of Rye & Winchelsea Memorial Hospital.

We have launched this years Up For Lunch rides on the British Cycling website so that cyclists can now enter online:

https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/details/260904/Up-For-Lunch-2022

There will be three routes:
100K Black route which involves around 1900m of climbing with two designated food stops. The first of these is at the top of the legendary Wallingford Lane climb before you get to Brightling. The second is just off the Udimore Road before cycling back to Peasmarsh.
75K Red route which involves 1300m of climbing including two food stops on the picturesque route around the villages of Bodiam Robertsbridge and Seddlescombe.
50K White route which still includes around 824m of climbing and a couple of food stops around Ewhurst Green and Beckley.

So although it’s a challenge, this is a great fun day of cycling on the August Bank holiday weekend mostly on quiet lanes. The start & finish is fully catered at the Rye Hospital’s Community Hub where there is plenty of free parking. £15 entry Online or £20 on the day, all profits go to the Rye & Winchelsea Memorial Hospital.

Last year Rye Wheelers raised £440 for this good cause, so join in and help us raise money for this worthy cause.
